Video monitoring is a system that allows you to observe and record images from cameras placed in various places. Monitoring can be used to ensure security, access control, supervision of employees or customers, as well as for marketing purposes.
Video monitoring is a system that enables the observation and recording of images from video cameras. It is used for security, access control, surveillance of production processes and other purposes. The choice of the best video monitoring solution depends on many factors, such as: the number and type of cameras, the quality and speed of image transmission, the capacity and reliability of mass storage, the ease of use and configuration of the system, the cost and warranty of the equipment. There are different types of video surveillance systems such as analog, digital, hybrid, IP, wireless, thermal and intelligent. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages that should be taken into account when making decisions.
Advantages of video monitoring:
- It deters potential thieves, vandals or intruders, which reduces the risk of theft, break-ins or property damage.
- It enables quick identification and response to emergency situations such as fire, flooding, technical failure or accident.
- It allows you to check the condition of a facility, equipment or goods remotely, which saves time and travel costs.
- It makes it easier to control the quality of work, behavior or attitude of employees or customers, which improves efficiency and satisfaction.
- Video monitoring provides valuable statistical and analytical data, such as the number of people visiting the facility, the duration of their stay, traffic paths and shopping preferences.
When choosing a monitoring system, several factors should be taken into account, such as:
- Purpose and scope of monitoring – do we want to monitor the entire facility or only selected zones, do we want to record the image continuously or only when motion is detected. Do we want to have access to the live image or only to the archive.
- Type and number of cameras - whether we need external or internal cameras, whether we need fixed or moving cameras, whether we need cameras with or without night function, how many cameras we need and how to arrange them.
- Image quality and resolution – do we need a high-quality image or is standard resolution enough, do we need a color or black and white image, do we need a wide-angle or narrow-angle image?
- Type and capacity of the data carrier – whether we want to store data on a hard drive, memory card or cloud, how much space we need to store the data and how long we want to keep it.
- Type and capabilities of the software - whether we want to use software dedicated to a given system or universal for various systems, whether we want to be able to remotely access the image via the Internet or only locally, whether we want to be able to analyze and edit the image or only play it back.
Video monitoring uses industrial cameras that can be analog or digital, outdoor or indoor, stationary or rotating. These cameras send the image to the monitoring center, where it is viewed live or stored for later analysis. Video surveillance is regulated by the law on the protection of personal data, which requires justification of the purpose and scope of use of cameras and information about them to monitored persons.
