A few years ago, Microsoft was considering buying the well-known Slack messenger. However, after an in-depth analysis, it was decided to build our own tool, but with more extended capabilities. And it was a bull's-eye.
Many companies face a dilemma: which application to choose for everyday communication? The choice is indeed not easy, because most often these applications are not related to the work management tools used in the company. This creates additional problems related to the potential transfer of data between different applications in the system, as well as generating additional costs for separate licenses from different suppliers.
We had similar dilemmas in our own company. Over the years, we have tried over a dozen communication applications, but we always had one problem: lack of integration with other software used in the company's daily work. This required manual transfer of data between the messenger, planner and calendar, which did not improve productivity. At some point, we decided to abandon Slack and Trello and try the possibilities of Office 365 . And it was the right decision in this regard.
An alternative to Slack in Office 365 is the Teams application. At the beginning it was hard for us to get used to the new system. Now we are a distributor of Microsoft Office 365 . This proves that not only have we switched to this system ourselves, but we strongly recommend other small and large enterprises to switch to this package.
What exactly did we like about Teams?
- It is a tool fully integrated with other tools in the Microsoft Office 365 . From the messenger level, you can send documents from the cloud or computer by immediately assigning the appropriate permissions
- Possibility to organize audio and video conferences with up to 10,000 participants.
- Work online within the messenger on Word, Excel, PowerPoint or SharePoint files.
- Possibility to arrange business meetings for teams. They will be saved to a fully integrated calendar, which can also be accessed via messenger, e-mail and other applications.
- Possibility to use the tool from the application (Android and iOS) and browser. You have access to the messenger at any time and in any place, which facilitates remote work and allows you to recreate documents.
- “Skype for Business Online” feature: screen sharing and recording, PowerPoint presentation uploading.
- Possibility to connect bots to Teams.
- Search engine from the tool level - in the application it is possible to find information about employees (e.g. who is the manager, who is responsible for a specific project) by entering a query into the search engine starting with "Who.."
- A very attractive price for many integrated tools in one system.
- Possibility to integrate Teams with external services (Github, Bitbucket, Jira, etc.).
A big advantage is that the size of the company does not play any role when choosing Office 365 . It is a perfectly tailored tool and every company will find the perfect package for itself. We are fans of Microsoft's messenger because it has functionality that no other application on the market has at such an affordable price.
