Cybersecurity Awareness training – why does every company need it?
Our IT specialists increasingly carry out activities related to restoring computers, servers and databases to proper operation after various types of attacks or security incidents. Due to the increased frequency and growing sophistication of hacker attacks, we regularly receive inquiries related to work aimed at increasing the level of security of company infrastructure, processed data and financial resources.
Before we undertake such an order, we try to discuss with the client as thoroughly as possible not only his expectations, but also the activities carried out so far. After such conversations, it often turns out that the vision of "improving the level of security" is limited to the purchase of hardware network security (firewall, UTM, etc.) and the introduction of procedures consistent with GDPR requirements are necessary to prevent attacks. Such activities are, of course, very valuable, but they often lack one, in our opinion, key ingredient.
One of the most important factors that increase the company's security is increasing employee awareness of IT threats, i.e. the so-called cybersecurity awareness. Why?
The computer user, i.e. an ordinary office worker, usually decides whether a computer virus gets into a company. By unknowingly downloading an infected file or running a spyware, criminals can easily gain access to the company's internal network. The result may be blocking the ability to work on computers, revealing confidential data or stealing money from a company account.
Unfortunately, no security system can predict all threats and ensure 100% security. This is why it is so important to equip employees with at least basic knowledge about safe work. It is worth making them aware of the threats they may encounter, what methods and operating scenarios computer criminals use, and how such threats can be identified and defended against them.
